The Durability, Installation, And Quality Of Bamboo Laminate Flooring
Many people with modern homes are choosing bamboo laminate flooring as a decorative and unique option. When people think of bamboo they usually think of panda bears eating them in the zoo, but many do not know that this material is a great look for your home. You can get laminate bamboo planks for pay a little more and get the real thing. Either way, it provides a stylish look that people will surely notice.
Where Does It Grow?
Bamboo grows mostly in China and a few other parts of Asia. There are several types of this plant that are used for lots of things including flooring. When the material is a few years old it is cut into long strips and left in the sun to get rid of any moisture. It is then manufactured into laminate when the strips (veritcally or horizontally) are molded into two and three layered planks. The horizontal ones are commonly known as "faced grained" and the vertical planks are known as "vertical grained".
During the manufacturing process, the bamboo floor planks are cut into different sizes. Then, they are "stained" with a polish that gives them a certain look. This includes the natural color (no stain), a glossy finish, and a matted finish.
Matted laminate is known to be more resistant to scratches than the natural finish and the glossy type.
Durability of Bamboo
This type of laminate flooring is known for its durability. Since the bamboo planks are inside of a two or three layered laminate planks, it is more protected from moisture than if you had the real thing. This also gives it an edge over real hardwood floors that also can swell when exposed to humidity.
It is just as resistant to spills as tiles, vinyl flooring, and linoleum.
Bamboo laminates can last for many years and as long as you get them from a quality manufacturer. Some great companies that produce all type of laminate with excellent durability are Armstrong, Pergo, Mohawk, Columbia, and Swiftlock.
Ease of Installation
Installing this type of flooring is really no different than any other kind of laminate. You can glue it to the floor and make all the planks custom cut to fit each room. You may be able to find glue bamboo floors that makes them
install without the mess of other materials.
Vendors and Locations
One of the best places to get them is online. There are lots of vendors that sell bamboo hardwoods and laminates. If you would rather see and touch them in person before buying then your best bet is to check out Lowes, Home Depot, or another local rug, carpet, and flooring store in your area that sells them.
Having your floor laid out in bamboo laminate flooring is a great way to make your home more aesthetically pleasing. The durability of this material combined with its beauty will surely make it a popular option for homeowners for many
years to come.
